abrina Shahnazarian, the NYC-based designer, brand director, and artist, planned and pursued a traditional path to a career in the arts from an early age. Her endeavors first manifested as a migration from Los Angeles to New York upon acceptance at Parsons School of Design.
There, she began her formal training with a strong focus on vintage (VNTG) garment study, the manipulation of classic garments into new form and function, and an exploration of non-traditional materials and construction methods. Her burgeoning talents were soon recognized, and she was awarded Designer of the Year upon graduation.
Sabrina’s career was then set in motion and she joined the team at R13. While working alongside company founder Chris Leba, she designed and developed multiple product categories that elevated the brand’s position from a luxury denim house to a successful Luxe Grunge lifestyle brand.
The collaborative environment at R13 afforded Sabrina a strong foundation and cultivated her innovative abilities to later spearhead the launch of new product categories for other notable brands. In years since, she has continued to create volume-driving opportunities while simultaneously managing small teams on both the east and west coasts.
After nearly a decade of designing men’s and women’s ready-to-wear (RTW) and accessories, Sabrina has overseen seasonal direction and concept development while building well-balanced seasonal collections for many iconic, contemporary brands.
Above all, Sabrina has been credited as a veritable “chameleon,” with the valued ability to transform and design across multiple aesthetics. According to Diane von Furstenberg, with her “impeccable taste, and exceptional eye,” Sabrina’s versatile talents continued to surpass expectations while serving as Brand and Design Director for House of DVF.
In both professional and personal spheres of life, Sabrina revels in the exploration of objects from the past. Fascinated by all things vntg, she is invariably inspired to revive and transform its venerable designs for use in today’s world.
